BANGKOK, 21 May 2015 – The Department of Livestock Development, Dairy Farming Promotion Organization and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are gearing up World Milk Day on June 1.

Director-General of Department of Livestock Development Ayuth Harintharanon said World Milk Day would be held on the ground floor of Future Park Rangsit shopping mall. This year’s activities are based on the theme “Milk: Nutritious Food since Ancient Times.”

In the event, visitors will be able to watch an edutainment exhibition on milk production, dairy products, music shows by popular artists, as well as shop for healthy products selected by local dairy producers.

Aside from launching World Milk Day, the Thai government spends a budget of over 13 billion baht a year on the distribution of fresh milk to more than seven million school children. The project also benefits over 17,000 households of dairy producers.

The FAO designates June 1 as World Milk Day to highlight the importance of milk and publicize activities connected with the dairy industry. Over 40 countries will also launch similar activities to mark this special day.
