YALA, Dec 11 – A police officer in this southern border province was gunned down in his car this morning, and the gunmen left the scene with the victim’s two firearms, according to local police.
The slain officer was identified as Pol Sr Sgt Maj Montri Sangmolee. Currently a traffic policeman, the officer reportedly was shot and wounded in 2010, but escaped death at that time.
Today, in his second ambush, he was shot in the head and torso while behind the wheel of his Toyota Prius sedan in the provincial seat.
Responding police found the victim in his bullet-riddled vehicle.
Eleven AK47 automatic rifle shell casings were found at the scene.
Police said Sgt Maj Montri was driving his car to work at Krong Pinang police station when at least four gunmen on two motorcycles shot him to death and left the scene with the slain police officer’s guns.
He reportedly had been shot and wounded in 2010, but recovered at that time.
