Yala residents build watercourse to relieve drought impact

YALA- Residents in Pron Sub-district in Yala Province have joined hands in dredging a community canal to relieve the impact of drought on their crops.

A budget of 300,000 baht has been approved for the dredging of the two-kilometer Dusong canal. Villagers who contribute their labor also receive wages. The program is expected to benefit more than 150 households.

The canal enlargement is one of the livelihood enhancement programs based on the community needs. The task is expected to take 50 days. Once completed, the canal will have a greater capacity, enabling villagers to do water-efficient farming during the dry season.
