BANGKOK, 29 March 2012-Police Chief Police General Preawpan Damapong chaired the opening ceremony of a campaign called ‘The White Suvarnabhumi’, with an objective to reduce the smuggling of illegal drugs and theft in and around the airport.
Seminars have also been provided to train airport staff and those involved in the safety operation on how to conduct an investigation, do a body search, file a report and relevant laws useful to them in pursuing suspects.
According to Dr. Piyasvasti Amranand, President of Thai Airways International, this campaign was introduced in 2009 and has since reduced the numbers of stolen belongings and narcotics smuggling in the airport.
‘The White Suvarnabhumi’ has received a great deal of cooperation from the public, airline operators, government organizations and other sectors.
The campaign will help raise confidence for Thailand in the aviation business and assure travelers that the international airport is free of any types of crimes.
