Bangkok, 2 September, 2014 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phetchaburi Office is inviting local and international tourists to the 16th Feast on Shellfish, Bird Watching and Squid Fishing or Kin Hoi, Du Nok, Tok Meuk Festival from 13 to 21 September, 2014. The event offers the chance for all visitors to enjoy first-hand the abundant nature and exciting experiences of Phetchaburi, a lovely central coastal province of Thailand.
TAT Governor Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik said,“The event is held annually during the months of September or October, the time in which Phetchaburi sees large numbers of squid in the sea and welcomes the arrival of migratory birds. Seafood, including all kinds of shellfish, is also plentiful during this time of the year. This provides the perfect opportunity for holidaymakers to escape the worries of the world and to enjoy all nature-based activities that this lovely province has to offer.”
Organised by Cha-am Municipality in collaboration with the Singha Corporation with the support from the TAT Phetchaburi Office, the 16th Kin Hoi, Du Nok, Tok Meuk Festival will be held at the scenic point of Cha-am Beach, Phetchaburi, starting from 4 p.m. to late night throughout nine days.
Kin Hoi means a feast on shellfish. Du Nok is bird watching and Tok Muek refers to squid fishing. As the event’s namesake, visitors will get the chance to savour fresh shellfish and all kinds of seafood. Throughout the nine-day event, over 50 famous hotels and restaurants in Cha-am and Phetchaburi will fill Cha-am Beach with the delectable aroma of their shellfish and seafood specialty dishes.
For bird lovers, free-of-charge bird watching trips to Bueng Ta-kad-plee and Nang Panthurat National Park leave twice daily at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. during 14 – 21 September, 2014. The trips will be conducted by bird experts, who will guide visitors to enjoy watching both local and migratory birds, which are abundant both in numbers and species. In the evening, visitors are invited to try their luck in squid fishing with trips leaving nightly from 7 p.m. and returning at midnight for 100 Baht per person.
As well as a feast on shellfish and seafood, bird watching and squid fishing, there are arrays of exciting and entertaining activities. A speedboat competition will take place on 13-14 September, 2014, from 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. A fishing competition will take place on 13 September, 2014, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. In addition, throughout the nine days, there will be live concerts by famous Thai singers and bands, as well as cultural and modern stage performances.
