CHIANG MAI, 28 April 2015 – The Mae Hong Son Office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has been preparing to promote the northern province’s folklore tourism.

Provincial TAT Office Director Sujitra Jongchansitto said the campaign is part of the Dream Destination 3 project, which highlights top tourist sites from each northern province. Mae Hong Son features Zutongpae Bridge, a wooden catwalk that runs above acres of rice paddies. Locals believe that crossing the bridge will bring success in life.

The director also revealed that the agency would focus more on niche markets next year, targeting women and Generation-Y travelers. Ms. Sujittra is confident that tourism products in the North will be popular among these groups of tourists.

Ms. Sujittra also discussed several low-season travel promotions, which include the roadshow of 79 northern travel agencies visiting the provinces of Songkhla and Nakhon Ratchasima. She introduced a new tour package featuring biking trips from northern cities to neighboring countries.

The director believed that the move would promote both tourism in ASEAN Economic Community and between regions in Thailand. Ms. Sujittra also hoped the campaign will contribute to the agency’s annual target revenue of 110 billion baht.
