PHUKET, 9 October 2013 – Phuket has beefed up its security system in its preparation for the next tourist high season which is just around the corner.
On Wednesday, Phuket Governor Maitree Intusut visited three police stations in the province’s tourist attraction areas — Kamala, Kathu and Karon — and told police there to launch measures to ensure safety and convenience for visitors.
According to the governor, warning signs will be installed along the roads to prevent accidents. Police and community volunteers will be deployed while CCTVs will be set up to reduce the number of crimes against tourists in such popular areas as Pa Tong Beach and Kamala Beach.
Usually, Phuket’s high season starts in November and ends in May before the beginning of the monsoon season.
