Popular Bangkok Japanese restaurant Sushi Hiro opened its first location in Pattaya at the newly rebranded Central Marina mall.
Acting Mayor Chanapong Sriviset and city council members were on hand Dec. 19 at the North Pattaya shopping center previously known as Central Center to congratulate restaurant chain executives.
The highlight of the event was the slicing of the “hon maguro”, the largest Bluefin tuna in Thailand at 412 kilograms. Its cutting was filmed for posterity because every bit of the “pig of the sea” will be consumed. Up to 75% of a Bluefin’s weight is edible.
Sushi Hiro operates 13 other locations, 11 of them in Bangkok. The others are located in Hua Hin and Nakhon Ratchasima, with plans to open soon in Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen.
