CHENGDU, China, Sept 16 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) on Sunday received four PATA Grand and Gold Awards 2013 in a presentation ceremony during the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Board and Committee meetings in Chengdu, China.
TAT Governor Suraphon Svetasreni received the Awards saying they clearly reflect the continuing improvements and upgrading of Thailand’s entire travel and tourism industry across the board, from marketing to culture to education.
TAT won PATA Grand Awards 2013 for Marketing Campaign for “Discover the Other You.” The TAT launched “Discover the Other You” to promote creative tourism in Thailand. This global digital campaign promotes learning about Thai culture on a holiday.
TAT has also won PATA Gold Awards 2013 for Education and Training from “Tourism Learning Centre Programme for 84 Schools.” The project allowed high school students a chance to learn more about local attractions in their respective areas in preparation for the possibility of opening them up for tourism, especially after the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.
TAT also awarded Gold Awards 2013 for Marketing Media (Travel Video) for “This is Thailand,” a 19-minute video documentary showing modern Thailand and its emerging generation of young people.
Apart from the travel video category, TAT also won Gold Awards 2013 in the Travel Poster category for “Gorgeous Shades of Craftsmanship – Chiang Mai.” The poster promotes the beauty of Thai handicrafts. Painting umbrellas is one of North Thailand’s most prominent cultural traditions.
The Awards are presented to outstanding entries in four principal categories: Marketing, Education and Training, Environment, and Heritage and Culture.
