Bangkok, May 3, 2013 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), as the lead sponsor, hosted the River Cruise Dinner on 27 April, 2013, for 170 delegators of the 2013 PATA Annual Summit and PATA Executive Board and Board Meeting. The party was held on the Angsana Cruise, the Royal Thai Navy vessel frequently used by His Majesty the King of Thailand on special celebratory occasions.
At the party, Mr. Suraphon Svetasreni, TAT Governor and Mrs. Vilaiwan Twichasri, TAT Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business welcomed Mr. Jao Manuel Costa Antunes, PATA’s Chairman and Mr. Martin Craigs, CEO of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) as well as all other delegates who attended the party and had a pleasant evening time on board along the city’s spectacular Chao Praya River.
Mr. Suraphon said, “TAT has worked with PATA in so many ways over the last 50 years. We share a history that reflects our growth in the tourism industry. As PATA has expanded to include every segment of the Asia-Pacific travel business, Thailand has grown along with it to now be the destination for over 22 million foreign visitors a year. On this long road to success, PATA and Thailand have worked together on tourism development and marketing activities that have contributed to the sustainability of our industry.”
The 2013 PATA Annual Summit and PATA Executive Board and Board Meeting were held during 25 – 28 April 2013 at the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld Bangkok. TAT, as the national tourism organisation of Thailand, and PATA has had a pleasant cooperation for more than 53 years. At this meeting, about 360 delegators from 39 countries around the world participated in the event, and more than 170 distinguished guests joined this River Cruise Dinner Party. Also, on that occasion, PATA presented the PATA Chapter Awards for “Spirit of PATA” and the “Awards of Excellence” to TAT.
