BANGKOK, 30 May 2012 – The Thai Airways International (THAI) labor union has submitted a letter asking for government’s explanation on Mr Piyasvasti Amranand’s termination as the airline’s president.
The labor union has submitted the letter to Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na Ranong, as he is in charge of the Finance Ministry, the biggest share holder of THAI. The letter has also been addressed to Transport Minister Jarupong Ruangsuwan, who has the power to command THAI Board Chairman Ampon Kittiampon to give clear explanation on the dismissal of Mr Piyasvasti. The letter also asks the government to clarify its policies towards the administration of THAI.
The union indicated that board did not give a clear reason behind the sacking; creating doubts among the union members whether the termination is related to the conflict on the earlier purchase of 38 planes.
