Bangkok, Thailand – 5 April, 2013: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Visa International (VISA), drawing on the success of last year’s first Thailand Splash and Spice festival, have teamed up again to offer visitors an expanded promotion for 2013.

The campaign for this year, running from now until 31 May, has grown beyond Bangkok to include Chiang Mai, Pattaya, and Phuket. An attractive and tasty variety of dining and accommodation specials are being offered under the rubric of the 2013 Splash and Spice extravaganza.

These special promotions coincide with the Thai New Year and its phenomenally popular water festivals throughout the country, held every year between 12-15 April, although celebrations and festivities take place a week before and a week after the official holiday dates.

TAT Governor Suraphon Svetasreni noted that, “This exciting campaign will showcase Thai food at its best to a worldwide audience. The variety and unique flavours of Thai food has won fans from around the world and is one of the great draws of foreign tourists to Thailand.”

All visitors and travellers are invited to enjoy discount packages and promotions at some 57 five-star hotels, as well as more than 30 participating outlets at the Suvarnabhumi Airport and selected shopping malls.

This exciting three-month campaign builds on the success of 2012’s inaugural Splash and Spice, and celebrates the quality and diversity of Thailand’s best hotels, restaurants, and cuisine. This year’s expanded campaign will enable enthusiasts to broaden their palettes as they explore national cuisines from Phuket in the South, through Pattaya and Bangkok in the Central Region, to Chiang Mai in the North.

The collaboration between TAT and VISA demonstrates travellers’ increasing awareness of what Thailand has to offer global tourists. Splash and Spice 2013 aims to show off the Kingdom’s luxury hotels, “must-visit” restaurants, and signature dishes prepared by renowned international chefs.

This is the perfect time for visitors to enjoy these generous promotions and discounts. The Thai New Year and Songkran Festival fall during the traditional low season with less tourists in the country, so participants are not only able to enjoy these exciting events, but also to take advantage of the special rates offered during this time of year.
