BANGKOK, 15 July 2015 – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports is cooperating with the Ministry of Public Health on the promotion of Thailand as a hub for medical tourism.
After her meeting with the Public Health Minister, Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul disclosed that the talk was aimed at drawing up a strategy for pushing Thailand as a center of medical and wellness tourism in the eyes of foreigners.
For instance, the minister said the strategy involves the enhancement of Thai medical services, provision of travel insurance for all visitors, development of preventive systems against contagious diseases and promotion of Thai spa in line with each area’s cultural identity. She added that a joint committee will be formed between the two ministries in a bid to amend related laws and bring about concrete outcomes.
Ms Kobkarn also noted that the Thai tourism promotion policy is currently focused on stimulating travelers’ spending through the use of many techniques and the quality of tourists is being placed above quantity.
