BANGKOK, 23 October 2011 -Stamp Collectors, tourists and alike had flocked into Chiang Mai’s Tri -nation Stamp Exhibition during the weekend, lighting up the nation’s grim mood caused by flood.
CEO of Thailand Post Company Limited, Arnussara Jitmittraparp, on Friday officiated the event at the international conference center in Chiang Mai Grand View Hotel.
The exhibition shows off rare postal stamps and other collectibles from Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia to the eyes for public viewing from Friday to today.
The event also informs participants of the long history of Thailand’s postal stamps and bank notes, accounting for 600 items worth more than 20 million baht.
Ms Arnussara said that the exhibition also demonstrated the nation’s readiness to host the World Philatelic Exhibition in 2013. Thailand currently has 60,000 stamp collectors, Thailand Post Company estimates that by 2013 the number would reach 100,000.
