BANGKOK, July 19 – TripAdvisor, one of the world’s biggest travel websites, has rounded up a list of Thailand’s top 10 temples voted by worldwide travellers.
The Thai temples received positive comments for their beauty, tranquility, and other aspects.
The Temple of the Reclining Buddha, or Wat Pho, in Bangkok, ranked first in the opinion of travellers. They said the 43-metre reclining Buddha and the temple’s murals mesmerised them.
“The sheer size of the Buddha stunned you into either silence or ‘Wow, just wow!’ The building was beautiful, lovely hand painted walls and shutters,” a tourist commented.
The Royal Temple of Dawn, Wat Arun, has been mostly photographed for its scenic view at the top of the stupa.
Other temples in the country voted among tourists are the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in the northern province of Chiang Mai, Wat Traimitr Withayaram as it contains the world’s biggest Golden Buddha image, the Temple of the Golden Mount (Wat Saket), Phra Yai Temple (Big Buddha Temple) in Koh Samui, Chedi Luang Varavihara Temple in Chiang Mai, Wat Chalong in Phuket, and Wat Phra Singh Voramahaviharn in Chiang Mai.
