The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be held on Sunday, April 23. The speaker will be Andy Barraclough, Chairman of the Chonburi Branch of the Royal British Legion. His topic will be on the history and activities of the Royal British Legion. The program starts at 10:30 am with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00am on the 4th floor of the Holiday Inn Executive Tower located behind the Holiday Inn’s Bay Tower on Beach Road.

A Joint Chambers Eastern Seaboard networking evening will be held at the Movenpick Hotel in Pattaya on Friday, April 28 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. (last drinks at 8.30 p.m.). The Amazing Pattaya Seafood Festival 2017 will take place along Beach Road from May 5-7. More than 200 street-stalls and food trucks will be in attendance to serve up an abundance of seafood fare to suit all tastes, accompanied by music and entertainment from some of Thailand’s biggest artists and stars. The annual Pattaya Rugby Festival will be held at Horseshoe Point in East Pattaya from April 29-30. Five overseas teams will compete against the best that Thai amateur rugby has to offer at 10’s style rugby in a round-robin format. There will be lots of diversions to keep the little ones happy while the adults can enjoy some great rugby, good food and cold beer. The Pattaya Mountain Bike Challenge 2017 will be held on Sunday, April 30 on Pratamnak Hill from 07:00 am – 12:00 pm. Race distance is 4km and everyone is welcome to come and take part (several categories by age and gender). Entry fee: 350 baht and free for children not older than 15 years old. A stamp market is held every Sunday from 10.00 a.m. till 3.00 p.m.at Rahnpintang Moe Kata Restaurant, Panji Place, on Soi Ponphraphanimit 7 (200m from the Bangkok Highway underpass). Here can you exchange stamps from the whole world. Call 089 091 3418 for more information and directions.

Food from the 4 Thai regions available at Oasis restaurant throughout April: From the North comes kaw soi tok, a traditional Chiang Mai dish in which braised beef is served with egg noodles, cashew nut, fried shallot and Thai herbs in a creamy coconut yellow curry sauce. Moving to the Northeast, there is sao noi pa pang, a favourite amongst the people of Isaan, who marinate a mixture of eryngii, shitake and straw mushrooms and then steam them with bamboo shoots. Price: THB 250++. From down South, there is ma mhun. Originating from Hat Yai, with strong influences from Malaysia just across the border, this dish combines the rich flavours of braised duck with a spicy rendang style curry sauce. Price: THB 280++. Moving to Central region, jao aoun len sen is one of the most popular of Bangkok’s street foods, made from marinated pork fried with lemongrass and topped off with kaffir lime leaves. Hard Rock Pattaya together with Boss Studio Dance are calling talented dancers from all corners of the Kingdom to compete in Dance‘17 Hard Rock Pattaya on 6 May 2017. For the sixth year running, the challenge is on for boys and girls of any age and nationality to compete either solo or in team. The North Star Library on Sukhumvit Road, north Pattaya holds regular Thai language classes Mon – Fri from 10.30 till 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. Cost of admission is 100 baht per session for library members and 200 baht for non-members. Private lessons are also available for 200 baht per hour. In addition, the library also holds Yoga training every Tuesday from 1 – 2 p.m. at the Father Ray Foundation.
