The Pattaya New Year Countdown Festival sees nightly celebrations and firework displays at Bali Hai Pier from 8 p.m. until midnight plus a wide variety of Thai and international music acts on the big stage and games and fun activities for all the family. Highlight performers include Bodyslam and Klear on Dec. 27, Instinct on Dec. 28, Da Endorphine on Dec. 29, Buddha Bless on Dec. 30 and Big Ass, Slot Machine and Modern Dog on Dec. 31. As well as food and goods being sold from booths set up along the Beach Road, there will also be entertainment to suit the tastes of everyone with traditional Thai songs and dance at the forefront. The week-long celebrations will culminate on 31 December with the biggest fireworks display of the year.
The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, Dec. 29. Everyone is warmly welcome. Club member Bill Francis will share his poignant experiences as an on-the-ground volunteer following the tsunami that hit southern Thailand nine years ago. The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9 to 11 a.m.
