The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be held on Sunday, July 19. Everyone is warmly welcome. The speaker will be Dr. Sukree Khumrak, M.D., Orthopedist at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, specializing in knee arthroplasty, whose topic will be “UKA – helping Mrs. Brown get her knees up!” The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea Restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

The 2015 King’s Cup Pattaya City Marathon will take place on the morning of Sunday, July 19, with the runners setting off from a start point outside the Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping mall. The event will incorporate a full marathon of 42.195km, a half marathon (21.1km), quarter marathon (10.55km), a wheelchair quarter marathon (10.55km) and a micro marathon (fun run) of 3km. The sixth Pattaya International Fashion Week will take place from July 24-26 at the Central Festival Pattaya Beach and Royal Garden Plaza shopping malls. More than 40 top models along with some well-known actors and TV celebrities and show off the latest fashions from international brands and Thai labels.

The Lodge Pattaya West Winds (LPPW) will be holding its annual Beach BBQ and Buffet at the Pinnacle Grand Jomtien Resort on Saturday, August 1. Proceeds from the event will go to help local charities. This year’s Mantra Tribute concert is being dedicated to “The Kings of Swing”, which include Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, Michael Bublé and more. Their well-loved songs will be rendered by Barry Upton’s Swing Band on 14 August from 19:45 at Mantra Restaurant & Bar. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
