The North Star Library on Sukhumvit Road, north Pattaya holds regular Thai language classes Mon – Fri from 10.30 till 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. Cost of admission is 100 baht per session for library members and 200 baht for non-members. Private lessons are also available for 200 baht per hour. In addition, the library also holds Yoga training every Tuesday from 1 – 2 p.m. at the Father Ray Foundation. Groups & Associations

The Royal British Legion Thailand meets the last Saturday of every month from 2 p.m. at the Tropical Bar on Soi Khao Noi (Watboon sampan near the Temple entrance) in East Pattaya. You do not need to have served in the Armed Forces to become a member and can join in the many social events arranged throughout the year. The Samaritans of Thailand English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone. Events

The next meeting of Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, July 24. The guest speaker will be John Ryan, an Australian specialist in lie detection who will describe some of his experiences and demonstrate his Forensic Voice Stress Analyzer. The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea Restaurant located on the North end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts at 10:30 am with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 am.

The Pattaya Seafood Festival 2016 will be held from July 29-31. Booths will be located along Beach Road with small temporary tables for diners while some of the most popular chefs around town will be in attendance to personally spice up the ingredients and favorite seafood dishes. The 2016 King’s Cup golf tournament will be held at Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club in Pattaya from July 28-31. The King’s Cup offers a prize fund of US$750,000 and is the second event this year co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Asian Tour, featuring top golfers from both tours. Monkfish prepared Italian style is available throughout July at Acqua, in the Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya. Acqua’s chefs are preparing monkfish tail with saffron risotto and chanterelle mushrooms at THB 790++, and monkfish pavé, in which the fish meat is formed into squares and served with baby spinach and foie gras, at THB 890++. Also on the menu is monkfish acqua pazza, an Italian phrase that means “crazy water” and is a style of poaching the fish meat, in this case with artichokes. The price is THB 890++. Acqua is a warm and cosy restaurant serving Italian cuisine and wines, and featuring views over the resort’s water park. The restaurant is open every Friday-Sunday from 18.00 to 23.00 hrs.
