Groups & Associations

The Royal British Legion Thailand meets the last Saturday of every month from 2 p.m. at the Tropical Bar on Soi Khao Noi (Watboonsampan near the Temple entrance) in East Pattaya. You do not need to have served in the Armed Forces to become a member and can join in the many social events arranged throughout the year. The Samaritans of Thailand English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone. Events

The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be held on Sunday, June 12. Everyone is warmly welcome. Mark Steele and others from Acorn Partners will be giving a presentation on “The Importance of Having a Will in Thailand.” The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea Restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

The HRH Princess Soamsawalee Cup charity fun run for women and children will take place along Pattaya Beach on Saturday, June 11, starting in front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping mall at 5 p.m. (race registration from 3 p.m.) There will be three distances to compete in: 1.5 km, 3.0 km. and 6.0 km. Entrance fee is 250 baht and includes t-shirt, free food and drink plus entertainment. Proceeds from the event will go to the Glory Hut Foundation for people who have HIV and also to support the water filtration machine project of Sirijaroenwat Forrest. The International Day of Yoga 2016 will be celebrated at Central Festival Pattaya Beach on Tuesday June 21 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and take part in the giant group yoga session and admission is free of charge, although all donations on the day to the Father Ray Foundation will be gratefully received. A Joint Chambers of Commerce Eastern Seaboard Networking Evening hosted by AMCHAM will be held at the Hard Rock Pattaya from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Friday, June 17. Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday will be celebrated with a Gurkha Curry Night at the Queen Victoria Inn Soi 6 Pattaya from 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 11. Food will be provided by the Gurkha Guards of the British Embassy in Bangkok. Admission price of 300 baht includes food, free door raffle, music, an auction, special guests and more. Tony’s Fitness Center at the junction of Third Road and Pattaya Tai (South) will be holding an International Day of Yoga on June 21 to help raise funds for Tony’s Animal Shelter, which takes care of abandoned, injured and abused dogs. There will be two yoga classes held during the event: 6 p.m. – 7.15 p.m. and 8 p.m. – 9.15 p.m. and those attending are requested to make a minimum contribution of 100 baht which will help provide medical care and food for the dogs.
