The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be held on Sunday, June 11. Oscar Jorgensen will talk about Baan Sabaijai care centres for disabled elderly expats in Thailand. The program starts at 10:30 am with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 am on the 4th floor of the Holiday Inn’s Executive Tower, located behind the Holiday Inn’s Bay Tower on Beach Road.
A Joint Chambers Eastern Seaboard networking evening will be held at the Pullman Pattaya Hotel G on Friday, June 16 from 6.30 p.m. – 9 p.m. (last drinks at 8.30 p.m.) Entrance cost of THB 600 for members and guests of participating chambers and THB 800 for non-members includes free-flow drinks and finger food. YWCA Pattaya Center will hold the 5th Charity Walk-Run on Pattaya Beach Saturday, June 17 with runners competing for Her Royal Highness Princess Somsawalee Cups. The three races cover distances of 1.5km, 3km and 6km and admission costs range from 400-500 baht. Proceeds from the event will go towards charitable projects chosen by the YWCA. The 2017 Pattaya Bikini Beach Race will take place on Saturday, July 1, 16:00 – 19:00 from a start point opposite Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping mall. There are a number of categories and distances to choose from should you wish to participate, from a bikini fun run over 3km to the more strenuous 9km event. Runners will be separated into age groups from 16-40 and over 40 for both male and female events. There is also a competition for the best bikini worn by both sexes. Yamato Restaurant located on Soi Yamato has been around for more than 35 years and the soi was named after its oldest tenant. Just look for the Japanese characters on the blinds outside. You cannot miss it. The menu is pictorial, which is a must when trying a different cuisine/language. This is a restaurant to take a few people with you. Ben’s Theater Jomtien will host “Words & Music”, a theatrical and musical event on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 June. This is the first production of Phoenix Performers of Pattaya, a new theatre company founded by Ben Hansen and Tweed Harris. Its aim is to bring Western style theatrical and musical culture to the community. The second part of the program will be a musical tribute to famous artists and composers. The Comedy Club Bangkok brings Scottish stand-up comedian Chris Henry to Pattaya for a show at The Robin Hood Tavern on Saturday, June 10 from 8pm – 10:30pm. The North Star Library on Sukhumvit Road, north Pattaya holds regular Thai language classes Mon – Fri from 10.30 till 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. Cost of admission is 100 baht per session for library members and 200 baht for non-members. Private lessons are also available for 200 baht per hour. In addition, the library also holds Yoga training every Tuesday from 1 – 2 p.m. at the Father Ray Foundation.
