The Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) will be holding its annual fundraising Quiz Night on Saturday, October 12 at the Mercure Hotel in Central Pattaya.  Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with a full buffet dinner of European and Thai food being served from 7:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., and then the quiz will start at 8:00 p.m. and finish at 10:00 p.m.  The cost is 600 baht per person.  Teams of six people will compete against each other for some great prizes.  If you would like to participate, please email [email protected].

The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, Oct. 6.  Everyone is warmly welcome.  The speaker will be author Desmond Bishop, talking about his new book, “Wizard of Zee,” an adult teen fantasy set 150 million years ago in ancient Gondwanaland.  The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort).  The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9 to 11 a.m.

For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone.  The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community.  English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.  All calls will be handled on an anonymous basis and are free of charge.  Please call (02) 713-6791 (24hrs a day, 7 days a week).
