The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be held on Sunday, Sept. 6. Everyone is warmly welcome. The PCEC will be welcoming back sociologist Steven Lance Stoll. His topic will be on “social evil” such as racism and mass murder. The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea Restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

The annual Jesters Care 4 Kids Children’s Fair will take place from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 6 at the grounds of the Regents International School Pattaya. Expect to see lots of stalls offering fabulous goodies as well as all the usual party fun and games for kids, both young and old. Stalls at the Fair are still available for rental if you have something to sell and wish to take part in this great charity fundraiser. For those without transportation, a shuttle bus service will run from the Father Ray Foundation on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya to the Regents School at regular intervals throughout the day. The opening ceremony for the Willpower Institute’s first-ever meditation course in English will be held on Sunday, September 6 commencing at 9 a.m. in the Sala Thai Room of at the Diana Garden Resort, North Pattaya. A live broadcast from Canada will feature an introduction by His Holiness Phra Dhammamongkolyarn, Lord Abbot of Thammamongkol Thummamongkhon Temple, Founder and Master Teacher of the Meditation of Willpower Institute. Subsequently, the class will be operated at the Willpower Institute on Sukhumvit Road from Monday to Friday from 6-10 p.m. The class consists of lectures and practicing meditation while sitting and walking. The course will run six months and the final class will be a three-day pilgrimage to Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai led by His Holiness Viriyang Sirintharo. The annual Pattaya Ducati ride to The Camillian Social Center Rayong will take place on Sunday, September 13. All makes of motorcycle are very welcome. The day will begin with a free lunch provided by Pattaya Ducati at 12:00 in Pattaya Klang (email Khun Pimlaphat on [email protected] to confirm). Refreshments plus a display by Ultimate Control stunt riders will be provided at the Center. The ride itself will start at 2:00 p.m. prompt and the route will be via the 36. Butts Street Wear will hold a charity fund raising event at Leo Blues Café on Sunday, September 13 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. The event will feature an international buffet, live music, a fabulous magician and fashion models dressed in Butts Street Wear serving drinks. All profits made from T-shirt sales and donations will be going to the Shelter Center Pattaya, a home for orphans and neglected children in Pattaya. The Jesters Gala Party Night will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Amari Pattaya resort starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost 2,400 baht per person and include a mouthwatering buffet dinner, free flow wine, beer and soft drinks, some great door prizes, live entertainment, a grand raffle with Honda PCX as the top prize, an auction and dancing. The North Star Library on Sukhumvit Road, north Pattaya holds regular Thai language classes Mon – Fri from 10.30 till 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. Cost of admission is 100 baht per session for library members and 200 baht for non-members. The Royal British Legion Thailand meets the last Saturday of every month from 2 p.m. at the Tropical Bar on Soi Khao Noi (Watboonsampan near the Temple entrance) in East Pattaya. You do not need to have served in the Armed Forces to become a member and can join in the many social events arranged throughout the year. The Samaritans of Thailand English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
