A former Miss Thailand was among the volunteers who
packed 7,000 bags of emergency relief supplies for a royally backed
foundation to aid flood victims.
Panadda Wongphudee, who won the contest in 2000, joined Oct. 16 at
U-Tapao-Pattaya International Airport with others from the Royal Thai
Navy, Military Wives Club, Sattahip Tai Chi Club and Thai Red Cross to
assemble the kits of 30 household items and necessities from the
Princess Pa Foundation, founded by HRH Princess Soamsawalee.
The bags will be sent to Yaiket Temple in Suphanburi, where the packs
will be distributed to 480 households, and Klangbandon Temple in
Suphanburi, where 250 households will receive the aid bags. The rest
will be held for future flood relief efforts.
The princess created the foundation after major floods in 1995 and
continues to work toward closing the gap between victims’ needs and
support from existing charity organizations.
