Operators of the Mixx discotheque paid three Frenchmen 50,000 baht after
bouncers there assaulted them in the latest case of violence by workers at
the South Pattaya club.
Dardouri Djemee, 39, Kaamouchi Jamel, 27, and Djemat Mohamed, 24, complained
to police around 1 a.m. Jan. 28 that five Mixx bouncers used tasers and
brass knuckles on them while ejecting them from the club.
The Frenchmen told police trouble began when bouncers accused them of
throwing ice cubes at other foreigners. The victims protested, telling the
bouncers, and later police, it wasn’t them. The disco staff, nonetheless,
beat them and pursued them as they fled the club.
Meeting with police Feb. 1, a Mixx executive said the assault occurred
because the three tourists were very drunk and causing problems, but called
the incident a “misunderstanding” and offered them the compensation.
In return, the French trio dropped all charges against the discotheque’s
employees.
The incident was just the latest in a series of assaults perpetrated by Mixx
staffers. In March last year, the owner of the XS Pub, inside Mixx, was
arrested for his involvement with a fatal gang shooting, and, in November
2011, two tourists were injured when a bouncer and four other Thais beat
them senseless outside the club.
