Police had the unpopular task of rounding up
PVC water cannons early in the Songkran week, as can be seen by the sour
faces in the background.
Boonlua Chatree
Pattaya police confiscated more than 2,000 PVC water cannons through
the first week of Songkran.
Police superintendent Col. Suwan Cheaonawinthawat ordered a crackdown on
the hand-made water guns, citing their historic role in blinding
injuries and traffic accidents.
Police seized the guns mostly from tourists and bar girls ignorantly
shooting water into the faces of passing motorists, oblivious to or
unconcerned about the danger to drivers.
Police also attempted to seize stocks of the high-power guns from
vendors, who’d craft PVC pipes into water-powered weapons.
