Workshop scheduled on protecting children

To be held in Thai language

With the support of the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ International Cooperation Division, The Code and ECPAT International would like to invite tourism professionals in Pattaya City to attend a one day workshop on protecting children against commercial sexual exploitation in travel and tourism, which includes the prostitution of children, child sex tourism and the sex trafficking of children.
We strongly believe that tourism professionals can be an important ally for the protection of children and it is an important aspect of responsible and sustainable tourism. The specific objectives of the workshop are:
- To strengthen understanding of the issue of commercial sexual exploitation of children, prostitution of children and child sex tourism;
- Provide information on how to report cases to local authorities, law enforcement and NGOs;
- Provide effective resources and tools to enable tourism professionals to create child-friendly companies, such as The Code or creating child protection policies and procedures.
Sponsored by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ECPAT Netherlands, the workshop is free of charge but space is limited to 25 participants. The official language of this workshop is Thai and provides complementary lunch to all participants.
Workshop Date: 11 July 2013 [Thursday] at Pullman Pattaya Hotel G
