Dear Peter and Co-workers,
Congratulation Pattaya Mail on your 20th anniversary. I have
had the pleasure of reading Pattaya Mail from the very first issue and look
forward to every new issue. Before Pattaya Mail there was not much information
to find about our local community. Bangkok Post had a weekly column about
Pattaya and there were a few other publications, but not of the standard like
Pattaya Mail. During the 20 years Pattaya Mail has been published the pages have
increased and so has the variety of subjects. I also find the fairly new
Property & Real Estate Supplement very interesting. Good luck for the future, we
look forward reading Pattaya Mail every Friday.

Happy Birthday Pattaya Mail, it’s so amazing, 20 years is
really great. Congratulations to the family, the team and it’s an honor to have
worked with you. Coming to Pattaya the last few years you have made me feel so
at home, so warm, all smiles when you come to events, and when you come to the
Royal Cliff and it’s been a real honor, thank you and Happy Birthday.

Dear Peter & Pattaya Mail team,
Congratulations on your 20 years of unbiased reporting and

Congratulations to the Pattaya Mail staff and to you Peter on
this major milestone for the paper. We wish continued success to the Pattaya
Mail and look forward to reading the timely reported news, comics, sports,
social events and the letters to the editor. There is always something in the
paper for every reader. It is hard to believe how quickly time has passed. We
celebrated the 5th anniversary of the paper as we were packing to return to the
States. On July 23rd we will raise our glass to toast the continued success of
the Pattaya Mail!
My best regards,
Catherine Bond
Dear Peter,
Is it really true? 20 years have passed already? It seems
like yesterday when I read the first edition of ‘Pattaya Mail’ together with our
old friend Alois. It was then and it is still now a most welcome alternative to
the other newspapers. Always objective and not in a style like ‘The Sun’ in
London. I appreciate all the work beyond the visible you and your team have done
and I am looking forward to much more interesting information concerning the
Eastern Seaboard. Keep on going! Many improvements have been made and I’m quite
sure there will be more in the future. Readers worldwide will have benefit of
it. Thanks again for providing us with really good researched stories.

Happy Anniversary Peter!

Dear Pattaya Mail,
May I, on behalf of The Royal British Legion Thailand,
congratulate the Pattaya Mail on reaching your 20th Anniversary. Working with
the Pattaya Mail has always been a pleasure and I wish you all the best in the
years ahead and thank you for the support you give to our organisation.
On a more personal note, I remember the early days of the
Pattaya Mail and the tremendous effort put in by the pioneers of the Pattaya
Mail in the those days. I remember the long days and probably the long nights
and it is indeed tremendous to see the heights the paper has reached. I also
remember, and note, the courtesy with which I have been treated by the staff
throughout the years. Carry on the good work.
Thank you and regards,
Derek Brook
Well done Pattaya Mail you helped me start my auction 5 years

Dear Pattaya Mail,
Congratulations on your 20th Anniversary. The Pattaya Mail is
on my computer monitor every Friday, as I am always waiting to catch up with
news of Pattaya, reminiscing about my Ex-Pat years in Chonburi/Banglamung with
my husband. To all your staff, best wishes for a continuous prosperity and a
successful future.

People who own newspapers could be those millionaires who
establish or take over the media to promote their social or financial status.
However, there are people who build up newspapers from the bottom of their
hearts because they want their newspaper to be good media, to justify and be a
benefit to the community and beyond with good intentions.
Peter is one of the second category; he worked hard and
ploughed through all obstacles until he has achieved his aim, an informative and
honest newspaper. Congratulation to the Pattaya Mail on its 20th anniversary and
I wish Pattaya Mail gains great prosperity and continues to Do Good and be Fair
to the Community.

On this important occasion for the Pattaya Mail, the English
newspaper under the leadership of Peter Malhotra, I, in the name of Pattaya,
wish for the Pattaya Mail to always remain in the city, continue doing good for
society. Because Pattaya is an international city, it is vital that there are
various media available, especially in English. I thank Pattaya Mail’s reporters
for looking out for the city. If there was no media to broadcast news, citizens
would never know what city hall has done for them. The Pattaya Mail is a
publication for foreigners as well, and this has built good attitudes towards
Pattaya. I sincerely thank Peter and Tony Malhotra and the newspaper for caring
for Pattaya.

Dear Peter and Tony, Prince and the Pattaya Mail Group of
Companies,
For 20 years you have excelled and improved with your
journalistic contribution to the betterment of Pattaya and the Eastern Seaboard.
I know, it was never easy and plenty of hurdles had to be conquered.
You and team did so in no uncertain manner. You have come a
long way, especially in the last 3 years...
May that continue for decades to come by you, your successors
and professionals like you - Peter and Tony and “gang”!
Yours fondly and in ever growing admiration and friendship,

Dear Peter, it is a delight to congratulate you and your
staff with the 20th anniversary of Pattaya Mail. I discovered the newspaper on
my second trip to Thailand in early 1997, and it struck me already then as a
fascinating gateway to the local community, serving both the people living here
on a regular basis and people passing through. This journalistic mix of
information, know how, political news, interviews with local personalities, the
regular columns covering any topic from motorcars to books and nightlife - the
pages sprinkled with photographic souvenirs from the tribal gatherings of the
cities’s best posing like dummies in a shop window with that ever present
flashlight-grin plastered to their faces, be it in the bowling alleys, the
Rotary meetings, the wine clubs, the numerous charity-arrangements, the expat
clubs, the grand openings of bars or restaurants.
It all made for fascinating reading and offered a completely
different picture of the Pattaya daily life than what the gossip and scandal
mongers in the dailies back in Norway wanted us to believe. Pattaya had a real
newspaper, both informative and entertaining. Not bad at all for a beach town
with a dubious reputation.
Through the years as I found myself repeatedly returning to
Jomtien, Pattaya Mail became part of my life too. The paper’s scope broadened,
its self confidence and ambitions grew. And when I was back home in Norway I
would stay in contact through the paper’s website.
Treat your reader with respect both when you inform him and
entertain him. That is a key element if you want to start a newspaper. Pattaya
Mail was built on it and never left the path. Even when the competition arrived
exploring the darker side of the reader’s will to part with his money, Pattaya
Mail stayed honest and balanced. That is impressive as the market is tougher and
people’s attention-span much shorter. The “grab him or lose him”-mentality is
poisonous.
20 years on, and Pattaya Mail has proven that it is indeed
possible to make an entertaining and informative newspaper without losing your
integrity or dignity.
“You should add ‘bravery’ or maybe ‘stupidity’ to that,” my
old friend Carl Meyer mumbled the other day, “hell, they even print my stuff,
where else do they litter their pages with reviews of records - and we’re
talking about vinyl records! - so old they fought in the Vietnam war”.
That’s just his way of saying that he is proud to be part of
the Pattaya Mail-family.
So here’s to you Peter and your staff and your 20 years of
hard work and amazing achievements. I am proud to call myself your friend.
Here’s to the next 20: Pattaya Mail rules!

Congratulations Pattaya Mail on Achieving 20 years of
Excellence. I was privileged and proud to witness the first Pattaya Mail hot off
the press. I have been an avid reader ever since, and I look forward to many
more years of reading and filling in the crossword. I have seen many newspapers
launched and fail in Pattaya during the past 25 years, but only the “Pattaya
Mail Voted the Best in the East” as a Quality Newspaper out-shone them all. It
reminds me of a quote from Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher when asked to define
Quality, “Providing Goods or a Service that doesn’t come back to a customer that
does.”
I sincerely wish all the staff of Pattaya Mail, Pattaya Blatt
and Chiang Mai Mail a Very Happy Twentieth Anniversary. Keep up the excellent
work and outstanding publications commemorating special events in the history of

On the 20th anniversary of the Pattaya Mail newspaper, I,
representing Pattaya residents and personally, congratulate the first English
newspaper in Pattaya that has grown with the prosperity of the city, publishing
news about cities, activities, and foreigners. It can easily be said that the
newspaper has benefitted the city and I wish for the Pattaya Mail to continue to
grow, increase its readers and sponsors, and continue to develop our city.
Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome
Dear Pattaya Mail Media Group,
Is that really true, the Pattaya Mail is 20 years “old”? Oh,
my God, that means: We are 20 years older, 20 years more wrinkled, 20 years more
shaky and 20 years more forgetful! Only the Pattaya Mail becomes in that 20
years stronger, nicer and more elegant.
We remember very well the foundation of the Pattaya Mail in
1993 and its first edition.
This edition started in a bigger size and in a professional
outfit than all other newspapers which was edited at this time in Pattaya. Maybe
that was the basic assumption for the big success, but in any case it was the
self-belief of Pratheep Malhotra and the success of his project.
Now the Pattaya Mail Media Group is an essential element of
Pattaya and have become an integral part of it. Advertising and publicity
without this group is in Pattaya nearly unthinkable.
So we wish you furthermore continuing success and a good hand
at accomplishing the press business.
The editor’s long and best friends,
Peter & Erika Strehlau

The media business is a very tough business. Not only must
you be alert and on top of all breaking stories but how you present them can be
quite tricky. In this business you must also maintain your integrity, freedom
and have the highest morals and ethical standards. The core values of any
business are honesty and sincerity which are vital to win over the hearts and
minds of the public.
For 20 years the Pattaya Mail has proven to be a newspaper
that encompasses all the qualities that has made in one of the most respectable
publications in Thailand.
My heartfelt congratulations to the management team and staff
of the Pattaya Mail Media Group. Long may you prosper and continue to serve not
only the Pattaya community, but also the world community with your dedication
and sincere desire to distribute news and information to the masses in a
civilised manner.

Pattaya Mail is a local English language newspaper that I
personally respect and am very proud of. You can produce quality that could be
equally comparable to ones at an international level. But behind all these
successes, you, the whole team of Pattaya Mail has sincerely dedicated time and
love towards our city and that is more important. You have played a key role in
bringing different sectors of the community together and mutually building a
good image of the city to present to the eyes of visitors, and that has so much
effect on tourism and economic improvement. I would like to take this
opportunity to congratulate the Pattaya Mail Media Group on your 20th
anniversary. I wish your whole team the best of health and may you have many
more years of great success.
Chatchawal Supachayanont,

In the newspaper business it is very difficult to convey all
the news and information to satisfy all the reading public. And it is even more
difficult if it is in the English language especially in a sophisticated city.
The Pattaya Mail has proven itself to be the one who has
faced and succeeded all obstacles for the past 20 years. By maintaining the
highest ethical and moral standards, the Pattaya Mail has proven to be a media
that has impeccable social responsibilities.
May your business continue to progress. Maintain your
goodness, just like salt maintains it saltiness.
I wish the management and all the staff the best of health
and bountiful wealth.

Dear Peter,
I wish to congratulate you too. The Diana Group can proudly
say that 20 years ago we played a vital role in the establishment of the Pattaya
Mail.
If terms of youth, this is the year where you are gathering
strength and concentrating on your work. 20 years has proven that the Pattaya
Mail is a high quality newspaper, where ethics and morals play a vital role.
Though the face of media is changing at a rapid pace, where choices of news and
entertainment presentations is vast and various, I will always be your moral
supporter so that you will be with us in Pattaya for a long time to come. My
wish is that the Pattaya Mail will be together with Pattaya for all eternity.

Congratulations to you, Peter and all of your family.
As a newspaper publisher visiting Pattaya in 1990 I noticed
no local English newspaper and thought maybe one day I might come and live here
in Thailand and open a newspaper. I actually came to live here the month you
launched, July 93, as it happens I was working for a Thai newspaper in Bangkok,
but naturally I was very interested to watch your progress. When my sister came
out here to live with me she actually worked for you for a couple of years and I
know she enjoyed it immensely.
Knowing how tough a business it is I fully understand what a
massive achievement it has been and take my hat off to you!
Kind regards,
