Pattaya will award more than 100,000 baht in prizes to creators of the
most beautiful and creative flower arrangements in the city’s annual Loy
Krathong contest Nov. 17.

the most beautiful and creative flower arrangements in the city’s annual Loy
Krathong contest Nov. 17.
Deputy Mayor Wattana Chantanawaranon and Rattanachai
Sutidechanai, chairman of the city council’s Tourism and Sports Committee, met
Oct. 15 to finalize details of the contest held in conjunction with
Suthammachart Temple.
The contest, which begins at 6 p.m. at Lan Po Park in Naklua, will also feature
performances by Pattaya students and a country music performance from Ekachai
Sriwichai and Karaket R-SIAM.
The krathong contest will award cash prizes for beauty and creativity, with the
beauty category split into divisions for primary school students, high school
students and the general public. The creative category will have just one public
bracket.
All the krathongs must be made with natural materials - no plastic or Styrofoam
- and winners will receive prizes ranging from 2,000-10,000 baht.
“Pattaya wants to preserve this beautiful tradition of Loy Krathong,” Wattana
said. “This contest is to make residents aware of the importance of
environmental maintenance, including promoting creativity and tourism.”
