It seems to be the norm for the Pattaya Sports Club parties, as usual
the rain held off and it turned out to be a fine Wednesday evening on the 16th
of July as some 300 members and guests made their way to the annual PSC Summer
Party at the Town In Town Hotel. In the reception there was a welcome sign and
after climbing the stairs to the party venue, Town-in-Town had produced some
attractive decor around the pool and as a backdrop to the stage.
The ladies always look forward to the PSC events for they take the opportunity
to dress up, look beautiful and are ready to party.

The guests could hardly wait for the doors to open at 1830
and, ready to welcome members and guests were PSC President Peter Malhotra,
Social Chairman Nigel Cannon and Mike Coleman. The service at Town In Town is
always excellent and drinks were being served immediately as everyone found
their seats and prepared themselves for the evening entertainment.
PSC Social Chairman Nigel Cannon said, “It’s a great pleasure for us to continue
holding our social events at the Town in Town Hotel, the staff and management do
a great job; the setting is perfect, with great food and the drinks keep coming
all night. The entrance fee is only 200 baht for members and 800 baht for non
members which offers exceptional value with the full buffet, free flow drinks
and the entertainment, which includes Barry Upton.”
Many respected local
personalities graced the PSC summer party this year (l-r) Horst Mueller, Margret

Patimasongkroh (PSCA Registered Committee Member), William Macey (PSC Charity
Chairman), Peter Malhotra, Satienpong Kamnon (President Rotary Club of Pattaya)
and Premprecha Dibbayawan (Rotary Past District Governor & PSCA Registered
Committee Member).
At 1900, Nigel went on stage to welcome everyone and
confirmed the members of the PSC Committee as were elected at the recent AGM.
Charity Chairman William Macey had arranged for 20 delightful children from the
Fr. Ray’s Children’s Village, aged between 5 and 10, accompanied by Father
Peter, to entertain the guests with 3 songs, 2 in English as well as some hoola
dancing. Before they left the stage they had received a well deserved ovation.
These children have no family to take care of them but they have the opportunity
to live in a family environment to help prepare them for their adult years.
Peter Malhotra then outlined a brief history of the PSC and the support it has
received from many individuals and groups over the years. “Pattaya Sports Club
has changed a lot over the years since it started, but still remains true to
what it set out to do. As a founding member of the club, I am delighted with
what has been achieved over the years, the dedication and commitment of the
committee means that thousands of people’s lives have been changed for the
better. All of this comes from the members, without them there would be nothing.
“Now the club is embracing even more types of sports, broadening the net, making
the club more attractive and in turn enabling us to continue doing what we do
best, promoting sports and supporting local charities,” Peter concluded.

PSC Charity Chairman William Macey added, “Pattaya Sports
Club sticks to what it set out to do all those years ago, to provide a portal
for people to get involved in all manner of sports and to help those who are
disadvantaged in the community. We continue by working with other charitable
organizations such as Rotary, Jesters Care for Kids the YWCA Pattaya and TFi.”
Peter then declared the buffet open to 300 hungry people. Town-in-Town once
again provided a superb buffet to cater for all tastes and their band provided
the music.
At 2100 Nigel introduced the ever popular Barry Upton who, on this occasion, was
accompanied by some friends - Paul, Kevin and three charming background lady
singers and the whole place was, very quickly, rocking for the next 45 minutes.

Whilst Barry was having a well earned break, the president
presented some flower bouquets to some invited female guests which was quickly
followed by the raffle. Little Bee Jackson drew the winning tickets with Nigel
announcing the lucky numbers. Mike Coleman ensured all were in the right order
and Vice President Joe Mooneyham presented the prizes.
During the break, PSC Golf Chairman Mark West told PMTV, “Golf is a very
important aspect for Pattaya, and for PSC it gives us the chance to utilize the
huge variety of courses that are within a short distance of the city. At the
moment a lot of courses are quiet, but we have managed to get some good deals
for our members.”

two great humanitarians whose dedication for charity projects knows no bounds.
Barry and his group of merry men returned for another 45
minutes of musical magic. His well known, popular brand of music ensures that
dancing is irresistible and the dance floor was, once again, crowded with happy
partygoers. After the completion of his second session, Nigel expressed the
appreciation of all to Barry and his group who received loud applause.
For the next hour it was the Town In Town Band that continued with both Thai and
Western music that had the dance floor full, particularly by Thai ladies whilst
their partners took a well earned rest fortified by the occasional drink.
It was obvious from the smiles all around that everyone enjoyed the evening and
many of those present approached Nigel and other committee members to express
their appreciation for another fine PSC party. Nigel, in turn, paid tribute to
Aun and his team at Town In Town for providing all the necessary ingredients to
ensure another great occasion.
A reminder for your diary, the very popular PSC Christmas Party is on December
10th.
