PGF enjoys volleyball competition and barbecue success
The Pattaya Gay Festival volleyball competition and barbecue at Tui’s Place, Jomtien on Saturday April 28 was another success, as the PGF’s program to
involve the Thai community drew a huge crowd.
All the people who saw the volleyball games Saturday afternoon had a great time, as did all the boys that participated in the competition. The cheerleaders
from Boyz Boyz Boyz were an event in themselves. A total of 16 teams took part in the games, including entries from Phuket and Bangkok. The winner was Num’s team from the
Flamingo Hotel.
The evening event went as planned with 154 tickets sold and a total of 105,000 baht raised for the PGF Charities, HEARTT 2000 and Naklua Drug Rehabilitation
Centre.
The sale of the raffle tickets raised 66,000 baht, with the main prize a Honda Motorcycle donated by Gordon May of the Ambiance Hotel. The Body Club donated
the three prizes for the volleyball winners, totalling 10,000 baht. Monthly, two weekly and weekly memberships for the Body Club were also given as prizes in the raffle.
The entertainment began at 9.30 p.m. with the fabulous Icon Boys. They followed this with a fashion show, and Jim Lumsden of the Ambiance Group did a
brilliant job as Master (Mistress?) of Ceremonies for the evening.
Grace, the owner and star of her own cabaret from Hula’s Cafe, Bali, made a surprise guest appearance. She delighted the crowd with her great comedy
numbers.
The next event for the Pattaya Gay Festival is The Charity Bowling Tournament on Saturday May 12, at PS Bowl above Tops Supermarket. Entry is 1,500 baht per
team of three. Entry forms are available at the Ambiance Hotel.
UK Club Pattaya kicks off with their first meeting
After 16 weeks of planning and organizing the committee members introduced the UK Club to Pattaya with a well-attended and lively party at the Olala Complex
on Soi 7 last weekend. George Tomlinson, chairman of the UK Club introduced the committee to the crowd and announced the aims of the club as being not only a social club but
also providing assistance and advice to members and fundraising for charities in the area.
After the formalities, raffle prizes were drawn and some traditional food was served. A total of 30,000 baht in gifts had been donated from various parties
to be used as “Lucky Draw” prizes. There were some fantastic prizes (36) up for grabs from quite a number of popular eating establishments such as Pig & Whistle,
Shenanigans, Paradise Grill, Yorkie of Jomtien, New Orleans, the Amari Resort, as well as the Olala Complex itself. There were also 2 free yearly subscriptions to the Pattaya
Mail and vouchers for weekend accommodation at the Amari Orchid, tailored shirts and blouses from Classic Tailors. Along with all that - there was wine aplenty as each
committee member donated a bottle of wine to the draw. The Grand Prize of 5,000 baht cash was donated by the club’s first associate member - Keith Bailey who resides in
Tenerife. There were even 2 tickets for the upcoming Thailand vs. Manchester United Soccer game being held in Bangkok in the draw.
The club’s next meeting will be at the New Bowling Green Club on Friday 18th May. Here, Barry Kenyon, the British Consular correspondent in Pattaya will be
talking all things British!
Meanwhile, the UK Club Pattaya is still seeking a secretary & a Thai Advisor for the committee.
