Announcements

The executive committee of the Pattaya Sports Club is pleased to announce that the 2004 Annual General Meeting of the Pattaya Sports Club will be held at the Town-In-Town Hotel, Pattaya Central Road, at 10 a.m. on Saturday June 26. Elective members are encouraged to attend if at all possible. (Please note that only elective members can attend this meeting.) For those elective members unable to attend the meeting, forms of proxy will be available from the PSC Office from 10 a.m. on Monday April 12.

Clubs

Pattaya City Expats Club will hold its regular weekly Sunday morning meeting at Henry J. Bean’s restaurant at the Amari Orchid Resort, North Beach Road at 10.30 a.m. As usual a breakfast buffet will be available from 9.30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting. The April 11 meeting will be a presentation by Dr. Lee Clubb, acting Dean of the Business Faculty at the Asian University, talking about the changing role of the university and the implementation of new courses that are available for the children of foreign residents. The organizers of the international charity paintball competition, held recently, will be at the meeting to formally hand over a cheque to Nernplubwan School.

Louis Noll and the Mata Hari crew are ‘going fishing’ and as such the popular Mata Hari Restaurant will close for their annual holidays from Monday May 5 till Monday May 26 and open again on Tuesday as usual. The Paradise Restaurant will be closed from April 10 – 21, as Hans Banziger and his team escape from the summer heat and the Songkran activities. But as of April 22, an exiting new food promotion will be served, where mangos will be the star of the promotion. Specials such as lamb fillet with mango and mint, ostrich fillet with pepper sauce and mango, mango chicken curry, fillet of sole with mango and many more will be served, as well as a delightful selection of mango desserts. Don’t miss it; all dishes are reasonably priced as always at the Paradise Restaurant. And for those who look for some thing different, the Paradise Restaurant is Pattaya’s first and only restaurant specializing in exotic food. Good news, the increasingly popular Door 2 Door food delivery service has introduced 2 new restaurants to its already extensive menu. Fatties Bar and Restaurant, opposite Big C on 2nd Road, and the Art Café, at the bottom of Soi 6 Naklua, are both very excited about being involved with such a professional delivery service. Starz Diner at the Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya has introduced its new concept cuisine, Buffer Dee Light. I-TIM, the International Hotel and Tourism Industry Management School, Bangkok is awarding scholarships to students in need of financial support for the July intake. The scholarships are for I-TIM’s two-year diploma in hotel and tourism management applications are available from I-TIM from the May 8 which is visit I-TIM Dcay. The scholarship for Thai students is valued at 68,000 Thai baht per year and will be awarded in both years of study subject to conditions. Scholarships are also available for foreign students and are valued at $US1000 per year and will also be valid for both years of study subject to conditions. It doesn’t matter if you’re from North or South of Watford in the Queen Victoria Inn (Soi Yodsak 6) as every Saturday you have a choice of either pie, mash and liquor for you Eastender fans or if you’re more inclined towards Coronation Street it’s pie, chips, beans or mushy peas and gravy, both are followed by ice cream and both for only 140 baht. A great value meal to sit and watch Saturday sport on the big screen and 5 TVs. As with all other bars, Queen Victoria Inn has lost Carlsberg Draught; however, they now have an alternative, along with Heineken they now have Chang Draught, almost the same taste as Carlsberg, from the same brewery and at a far lower price.
