800 customers sent scurrying in late night Hollywood Disco fire

None injured, but over 2 million baht damages

A short circuit in the Hollywood Disco sign on South Pattaya Road caused a spectacular fire that destroyed the sign, 18 motorcycles and caused an estimated 2 million baht in damages. Luckily, no one was seriously injured.

Heavy rains create havoc on Pattaya Roads

City still trying to wade through solutions

May marks the beginning of the rainy season in Thailand and, right on cue, many spots in Pattaya were flooded last week.

Heavy rain turned Pattaya Third Road into a mini-swimming pool at one stage. Motorists had to negotiate more than 100 meters of flooded road with great care.

Scott McCook and Alice Lim came up from the Island Republic to take the Open Multi-hull title in the 2004 Pattaya Mail PC Classic Royal Cliff Beach Resort International Regatta, sailed off the Royal Varuna Yacht Club last Saturday. Scott, racing a Taipan 4.9 borrowed from Viroj Nualkair, beat Varuna sailor Alberto Cassio, turning in a great performance on his solo sailer, the Nacra 16 Sq., with Bob Garner, single-handed on his Taipan 4.9 uni, close in third.

Papa Ray’s 89th Birthday Scramble

It seems like we have been playing this Tournament since our youth, and that’s a long, long time. Probably we have, because our yesterdays are yesterday, whilst Ray’s include the 1st World War. Humbling really, but when you think of the alternatives being 89 is really much better than not being 89.
