Everyone likes a clean beach

Maritime collision in Sattahip waters leaves 22 dead
Two missing
Twenty-two
Cambodian crewmembers of a Thai fishing boat died and two went missing after the
vessel collided with an unidentified freighter in the Samaesarn Gulf off
Sattahip on May 18.
The vessel sank quickly, but another fishing boat managed to
rescue nine other crewmembers and the captain.
The Royal Thai Navy and Marine Police dispatched patrol boats
and aircraft in a search-and-rescue mission. Twelve of the dead were trapped in
a net covering the sinking trawler. The missing two crew members are presumed to
have drowned.

Stammtisch visits Regulars’ table at the Moon River Pub

The regulars’ table of the German-Thai Chamber of
Commerce met May 14 at the Moon River Pub for a convivial get-together.
Although the weather was very bad and there was a fierce
storm in the afternoon, many members made their way from Bangkok to Pattaya.
Among them were the trainees of the German Embassy and of the German-Thai
Chamber of Commerce.

Dana Spicer celebrates centenary at Rayong plant
Hosts street children for a day of festive activities

International automotive parts company Dana Spicer
celebrated their centenary in grand style last weekend. As part of the
festivities, Dana Spicer (Thailand) hosted over 50 children from the
Redemptorist Home for Street Children in the grounds of their Rayong
Plant. Michael Diamente, Dana Spicer plant manager and his staff welcomed
the children.

‘Home-Towners’ score high at Samui Regatta
Sailors from Pattaya’s Royal Varuna Yacht Club and the Sattahip Naval
Base won two of the five events comprising the recently completed Third Koh
Samui Regatta, with good placings in the other classes of the five, which
comprised this year’s championship.
