for Green Field Villas and that everything was carefully planned when
designing the project, including easy access to Pattaya and surrounding
areas and just 5 minutes from Sukhumvit Road.

Suchada Tupchai
On December 17 behind Pacific Park Sriracha, Pisit
Ketphasook, governor of Chonburi Province, presided over the opening of the
Grand Sriracha Festival, which was well attended by celebrities and the public.
Somboon
Worabanyasikul, managing director of Pacific Park Sriracha Co. Ltd. said that
this activity was in cooperation with Pacific Park Sriracha and the Sriracha
Municipality which has been holding the festival for 6 consecutive years to
provide entertainment over the New Year holiday season and support tourism in
the area.
The festival was a huge success, mostly due to its huge
variety of activities, Thai cultural shows and stage acts. The programs featured
an orchid and sea muscle promotion, a country singing contest for people to
display their abilities, a dance competition, and free Thai country music
concerts given by well known artists and hilarious comedian shows.
After the opening ceremonies, Pisit participated in the Sea

to cook up a delicious sea mussel dish on stage which proved an amusing
spectacle for all who attended.

Pattaya community receives special surprise from Amari Orchid Resort
If you happened to see a couple of Santa Clauses riding around town on
Christmas Eve in convertibles, with pretty Santalinas perched on the back
shelves, don’t worry, they were real and were not a hallucination brought
on by an over-indulgence of eggnog.
Merry
Christmas, Ho, Ho, Ho!
Amari Orchid Resort’s general manager, Dominik Stamm
and one of the executive assistant managers, Michael Goetz dressed up as
the two Santa-Clauses, and led a group made up of hotel management and
staff dressed up as ten “Santalinas” for a special trip around town to
present Christmas Greetings at schools, hospitals and shopping malls, in
order to share the happiness and joy of Christmas with other people and
wish them a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Pattaya
students were pleasantly surprised when Santa and his helpers drove up and
handed out presents.
They passed out lots of gifts and goodies from Santa’s
bags to many students and sick kids in hospitals, as well as tourists at
shopping malls in Pattaya.
Instead of traditional reindeers, the two kind Santas and ten lovely
Santalinas drove around town in two convertible cars, which were supported
by Auto Exchange Company Limited, all the while being escorted by Pattaya
traffic police.
You couldn’t cut the Woods down over Xmas
Miss Terry Diner
Andrew Wood, the GM at the Chaophya Park Hotel and
Resorts came down to Pattaya to play Santa Claus for his many friends that
he has made over the years. Bringing ‘Mum’ (Audrey Wood) along was a
suitable excuse for the celebration, and the more than 20 guests enjoyed
their lunch at Bruno’s.
Audrey
Wood was thrilled to beck in Pattaya .
It was certainly an international affair with the UK’s
prime export Archie Dunlop in fine fettle, along with newly published
author Dennis Dewsnap. Austria, Germany and Switzerland had Adi and Helmut
Tischner, Corrie Bic, Ulf Buchert and Sylvia and Paul Geiser, while
Thailand was more than adequately represented by Andrew’s long-time
friend Pichai and the lovely Som Corness and the (never short of words for
a toast) Peter Malhotra, who expounded on the charity works done by the
A.X. Fassbind Foundation. There were a couple of Canadians thrown in for
good measure with Jack Tearne and Kathy and her boyfriend, while the
Pattaya Mail’s Dr. Iain represented any country that produced great
wines, especially Australia!
You are always welcome, Andrew!

Kim’s final round of drinks?
Miss Terry Diner
After a star-studded career as a landlord in Pattaya, Kim
Fletcher has moved from his usual “Superstar” table, where he had been
holding court in “Delanigans” for the past six years eight months, not
that anybody was really counting (other than Kim).
Loyal
staff bid Kim a fond farewell
To celebrate the final evening, the hard core drinkers
were out in force, and a steady stream went by to shake the landlord’s
hand, including notable such as his sometime golf partner Jack Levy and
oft-times drinking partners Neil Sandilands, Ray Matti, Mosquito Bill and
countless others. Even the newest drinkers such as Leo Payne, who only
recently graduated from boob to bottle, was there to drink to Kim’s
health, along with a bevy of local beauties who would have probably drunk
Listerine by the end of the evening, thinking it was Cr้me de Menthe.
Of course the staff were there in great numbers and
presented Kim with a bouquet of flowers as a token of their appreciation of
their six year eight month boss, with Kim in return supplying several
bottles of champagne to top off the evening.
However, Kim has not disappeared from the Pubs of Pattaya and will be
seen shortly (he never was too tall) at a new table in the soon to open
Jameson’s Irish Pub adjoining the Nova Park on Soi Sukruedee/AR.

Pattaya’s Sikh community responds to blood drive call
Suchada Tupchai
Members of Pattaya’s Sikh community turned out in
droves for the community’s annual blood drive on December 24. The blood
donation, which couldn’t have been timelier given the events that happened
just a short while later, took place at the Sikh Temple on Soi 17 in South
Pattaya.
Pattaya’s
Sikh community responded to the call for blood.
Amrik Singh Kalra, head of Pattaya’s Sikh community,
presided over the event and said, “This activity is held annually to pay
respect to His Majesty the King for his December 5th birthday, and to
support the need for blood.”
The annual blood donation drive is held in conjunction with members of
Somdetpraborrommarat Chatavee Hospital in Sriracha during the New Year
festival season. Normally the donation drive is held to assist, and possibly
save the lives of victims of the annual traffic carnage during the New Year
celebrations, but this year much of the donated blood might be redirected to
help the tragic situation in the southwest. Regardless, the blood donated by
the community is used to help people in need, and to make merit.

the items the Charity Club of Pattaya donated with the 100,000 baht raised

Sattahip Technical College participates
in accident reduction campaign for New Year holiday
Ariyawat Nuamsawat
Students at the Sattahip Technical College jumped on the
bandwagon and organized an anti-drink and drive and non-smoking parade to
send a message to the public to drive safely during the New Year holidays
and take better care of their health by not smoking. The auto convoy was
welcomed at Pattaya City Hall.
Mayor Niran poses with members
of the campaign parade.
At 10 a.m. on December 29, Phensri Nimitbannasarn,
assistant director of Sattahip Technical College, and the Student Activity
Faction led 250 students to participate in a safe driving, traffic accident
and smoking reduction campaign parade for the New Year. Mayor Niran
Wattanasartsathorn and city administrators welcomed the group with hearty
refreshments and words of encouragement.
The parade started from city hall and continued to Beach
Road in the direction of Walking Street in South Pattaya, and then proceeded
to Bali Hai Pier. Participants distributed campaign fliers to the public for
acknowledgment of the government’s policy, which is expected to reduce the
numbers of accidents to not more than 631 fatalities and 26,467 injures.
Last year Chonburi Province was the 3rd most traveled
tourist locale after Nakhon Ratchasima and Chiang Mai. Over the holidays,
authorities kept a watchful eye on Pattaya to strictly enforce traffic laws
and to continue the campaign against drinking and driving. They also
enforced the headlights and helmet law, both of which must be on at all
times while riding a motorcycle.
Phensri said, “Most accidents each year are caused by
drunk driving. Therefore the college pays serious attention to this problem,
a problem that may cause the loss of lives and property. The campaign
includes stopping people from smoking as well.”
