HM the King calls for unity in helping the victims of the tsunami tragedy

As has been tradition for many decades, on December 31, the eve of the New Year, His Majesty the King spoke to the nation on television. Below are excerpts of His Majesty’s speech calling upon every Thai to join together to help the victims of the natural disaster and help in a united effort to find ways of prevention and implementing an early warning system in the event of any future catastrophe.

Pattaya responds to call for help

After the tsunami hit the south, and when the call for help went out, Pattaya’s residents, tourists, Thais and foreigners responded quickly and without hesitation. Blood was donated, food, clothes and necessities were collected, and all was sent down south to the affected areas. At this time of need, it is heartwarming to see this tremendous response. Varuna Cup ends a year of great yacht racing in Pattaya

In the last big regatta of an eventful year, the Royal Varuna Yacht Club held one of its classic events, the Varuna Cup, which appropriately for the occasion, was also one of the best attended and promoted of the year.

Generously sponsored by Blue Wave Water Sports Asia, BMW, Heineken Beer and the Park Chidlom, it was a weekend of close racing, in excellent sailing conditions and the usual good camaraderie, which now permeates the new Varuna club facilities - a showplace on the Eastern Seaboard.
