This weekend begins the
celebrations to say goodbye to the year of the Dog and welcome in 2007, the year
of the Pig (which actually begins on February 18, 2007) culminating in grand
fireworks displays all over Pattaya on New Year’s Eve. Most venues around town
will be putting on events so that you may celebrate to the fullest, and Pattaya
City is sponsoring 3 days of events at Bali Hai pier . The entire Pattaya Mail
family wishes you and your family a safe, happy, prosperous and healthy New

Military personnel take to the streets to back police in crime crackdown
Chonburi Governor Pracha Taerat has initiated a massive program that will see
military personnel on the streets along with the police in an attempt to control
the burgeoning crime wave.
Under the Soldiers Help to Prevent Crime in Pattaya program, Pol Maj Gen Anant
Charoenchasri, commander of Chonburi Police, General Aekanant Rattanasopha,
commander of Military Police Div 14, and Rear Admiral Apirat Sriwattana, deputy
commander of Sattahip Naval Base are sending out police officers, military
personnel and volunteers to help prevent crime in Pattaya.

New Thai and foreign artists get their chance at Liam’s Gallery
Liam Ayudhkij, owner of Liam’s Gallery, has collected more than 150 works by
new artists and put them on display as a New Year exhibition, which will
last until February.
The concept is to display works by new artists who have never been exhibited
before. The exhibition not only comprises works by talented new Thai
artists, but also includes works by foreign artists from China, the
Philippines, and America.

Santa visits Ban Mabprachan School
Santa Claus visited Ban Mabprachan School on December 15, with a little help
from the Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa, Taksin-Pattaya Rotary Club and
Rayong Rotary Club, distributing gifts to the children from kindergarten
class level to primary school class 6 while his helpers served lunch.
