Teachers from Sriracha were
awarded prizes for excellence.

Students at Assumption College Sriracha have been saying thanks to their
teachers. A special Teachers’ Day ceremony was held at the school where
students gave a lotus flower to every teacher.
A party was held for the teachers at Assumption, where staff from St Paul’s
and Darasamut - also in Sriracha - were present. Teachers watched a display
of classical Thai dance during the evening.
During the party several certificates were given to teachers from different
year groups to mark their achievements and effort.
Assumption employs around 30 native-speaking English teachers. There are

Asian U gets to the hearts of the young
College students and
potential students participate in the seminar at the Novotel.
On Saturday January 13, Asian University hosted a
seminar on the topic “Getting to the Hearts of the Young” at the
Novotel, Siam Square. Over one hundred parents and potential students
attended.
The presentations focused on “How to make your study happy, enjoyable
and successful.”
The panelists were Dr. Viphandh Roengpithya, president of Asian
University and moderator; Prof. Dr. Utumporn Jamornmann, director
National Institute of Educational Testing Service; Dr. Pansak
Sugkraroek, independent academic and Acharn Pakinai Soontornvipart,
president, Guidance Association of Thailand.
Apart from the seminar, which was attended by both parents and
youngsters, some potential students expressed their interest in applying
for scholarships to study at Asian U or the College. They took the
opportunity of having their level of English assessed. The event was
supported by staff and existing students from the university.

New computer room is donated to Wat Laem Chabang School

Uni-Thai Shipyard and Engineering Co together with CUEL Co Ltd on January 12
jointly presented equipment for a computer room to Wat Laem Chabang School,
the donation being received by school director Mongkhon Suwanklom, and the
ceremony attended by teachers and students.

group that supported the project.
Two other companies, namely Siam Michelin Co Ltd and Maepimyang Thai Co Ltd,
also contributed to the donation, which was to fully equip a new computer
room. The presentation was held as part of the Children’s Day celebrations.
Theeraphon Udomkancha-Na-Nan, director of activities for the computer room
project, said that it would support both the educational facilities of the
school and the people in the community.
The intention now is to increase and develop the use of media technology
with the 24 computers in the new computer room, and an internal network
system has been set up.

Pattaya School number 3, also known as Wat Sawang Fah Pruetharam School in
Naklua, celebrated Children’s Day on the 12th of January during which time a
message from Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont was delivered to the children
by Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn.

major of Pattaya School No. 3’s marching band.
In his message Prime Minister Surayud taught the children to, “Possess moral
principles, live within their means and avoid vice”. His message also
encouraged youngsters to be protective of themselves and to stay away from
the temptations that can lead them into a life of degradation and
unhappiness.
The prime minister also said that every adult has a responsibility to help
children develop in the correct fashion and help to strengthen Thai society
as they grow into adults.
As part of the ceremonies, Mayor Niran presented the Prime Minister’s Award
to Kwin Thamklang a Class 5 student, who was chosen as the school’s most
outstanding student of the year.

During the celebrations, the school marching band displayed their prowess
and precision to the more than one thousand children and parents, bringing
on loud cheers and applause.
The school marching band, which has competed in many competitions, both on
the local and national levels, has proven themselves as a youth band to be
reckoned with.
They have won several prizes including a silver medal at the HRH Princess
Sirindhorn Trophy - 26th Secondary School Student’s Band Championships held
on the 7th of January 2007 and a bronze medal at the 11th Yamaha Thailand
Marching Band Championship last year.
During the course of the year the band members have a need for a
considerable financial support so that they could further their training and
cover other expenses such as their trips to the competitions in Bangkok,
maintenance of their musical instruments and the upkeep of their colourful
and smart outfits.
To this end the committee of the Pattaya Mail PC Classic, Royal Cliff Beach
Resort International Regatta and the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya
generously donated the sum of 30,000 baht.
Rotary District 3340 Governor Nominee Pratheep Malhotra, Past President Alvi
Sinthvanik and Wannapa Wannsri, Chief of the Pattaya Education Development
Bureau, made the presentation to Chanyarat Kanchanabut, director of Pattaya
School No. 3 and witnessed by Mayor Niran.
The Pattaya Mail PC Classic, Royal Cliff Beach Resort International Regatta
is an annual yachting event held at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club and
supported by many generous sponsors. The proceeds from the event are placed
under the care of the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya to benefit the numerous
humanitarian projects for the needy in our community.
This year the PC Classic Charity Regatta is scheduled for March 24.

MA students from the USA paint murals at Ban Jing Jai
MA Students from
Stanford University and children from Ban Jing Jai paint murals on the walls
surrounding the school.

Twenty-five MA students from Stanford University in the USA joined the
children of Ban Jing Jai on January 6 to paint a mural on the school wall as
part of the Children’s Day celebrations.
Stanford student Nisanat Chirdkiatisak told Pattaya Mail that she was
participating in a program that helped in community development in different
areas. She had visited Thailand and Ban Jing Jai on many occasions and on
this occasion had brought along her friends from the university to help
paint the walls.
Piangta Chumnoi, director of Ban Jing Jai, said that in addition to
providing an exciting and creative activity for the children, the mural
would be an eye-catching addition to the local environment.
The Stanford University students provided money for the program, and they
also took the children to Khao Kheow Open Zoo after finishing the painting.
