Clubs & Associations

The next meeting of Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, September 9. The Club meets every Sunday morning at Henry J. Bean’s Restaurant on the north end of Beach Road in the grounds of the Amari Orchid Resort. The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Everyone is warmly welcome. This week the main speaker will be Kim Johanson. Kim served as the chief of the ambulance service in San Francisco, most notably during the devastating earthquake in 1989. He has worked on long-term, international consulting projects related to emergency medical services in Shanghai and Manila. In 1999, he came to Thailand to work on a three-year consulting project as chief healthcare advisor to the Thai Government for the World Scout Jamboree. After the project was finished, he liked Thailand so much that he decided to stay and make it his home. During his stay in Thailand, he has been involved with three construction projects; a home in Jomtien, a 33-unit apartment building in Pattaya and now his most recent project, a 76 room resort. His talk will focus on "Building in Thailand from A to Z". A further speaker will be Eric Hearn, president of the Pattaya Archery Club. This will be followed by the lively Open Forum and update on happenings in and around Pattaya. A full report appears each week in Pattaya Mail. For more information about the Sunday meeting and the numerous other weekday activities of the PCEC, see the Club’s website at www. pattayacityexpatsclub.com and learn more about the many and varied activities to which everyone is welcome.
