Lions raise funds for
tourist police volunteers

to support volunteers who support tourists.

The Pattaya-Taksin Lions Club raised 100,000 baht to support
Pattaya’s tourism police volunteers during a charity bowling contest held on
March 16.
The funds were presented by club president Banchong Banthunprayuk to former
mayoral advisor Itthipol Khunplome during a reception at the Park Hotel on
March 28, with Itthipol then presenting the money to Sukarat Kalra, head of
the Volunteers for the Support of Tourists Association.
Sukarat said the 100,000 baht would go into a kitty to support the
activities of the 500 volunteers who work with the Tourist Police in all
matters involving Thai and foreign tourists.

Bangkok Pattaya Hospital is providing a special Health Family Summer
2008 package for residents and tourists until the end of April.

The initiative was launched on March 31 in the lobby of Building B at Bangkok
Pattaya Hospital, with Dr Kritawit Lertutsahakul, head of administration for the
Bangkok Hospital Eastern Group presiding.
Dr Kritawit said the scheme was launched with the long Songkran holiday in mind.
This is a time when many people are on the move, visiting their families, and
health checks and medical treatment are particularly important during this
period.
There are three separate programs available, and there is a buy-one-get-one free
option. The packages start at 599 baht. Purchasing is easy, with vouchers for
sale at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, the Royal Garden Plaza, Central Festival, and
