“Sister of My Heart” won the hearts of the Book Club ladies
The Book Club meeting for the month of April was held at Judy Hoppe’s house. Before the ladies were able to dig into chocolate cakes and baked pasta and all the goodies carefully prepared by Judy, a book review was in order. “Sister of My Heart” by Chitra Banerjee was on the chopping board this time. |
Remembering the past on ANZAC Day
Once again members of the Royal British Legion Thailand traveled to Kanchanaburi and the Bridge over the River Kwai to join our Australian and New Zealand friends in their commemoration of ANZAC Day. This year 29 of us traveled up a day earlier than previous visits, thus allowing us a free afternoon on arrival and more importantly time to join the Dawn Service at Hellfire Pass. |

Next generation of oarsmen sought by Rowing and Canoeing Association
The Rowing and Canoeing Association of Thailand has started searching for the next generation of oarsmen, saying that there is a shortage of rowers in the country and that Thailand needs them to be able to compete at international competitions. |

Your Jesters Care for Kids donations at work
On Tuesday, April 29, we visited the Rayong Central Prison on Hwy 3191 en route to Pluak Daeng for the second consecutive year to distribute scholarships to the children of the inmates. Of the 50 recipients, 43 were able to attend on this day to accept their 1000 baht scholarship. Of this number, 18 were returning students, who also received scholarships last year. |
Easyriders Bar and Pub
Was it really as long ago as 1969 when the film Easy Rider was released, thought by many to be one of the best movies ever made, starring Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson? Whilst “best” could be argued over, it certainly has been a movie that endured, and has spawned many concepts in the motorcycling world. One of the newer ones has been the Easyriders Bar and Pub in north Pattaya; however, their vivacious customer relations manager Judi McNamara assured me that the venue had actually just celebrated its fourth birthday. |
