Coastal protection and preservation were on the agenda
when the National Security Council met with Royal Thai Navy and coastal
resources administrators in Pattaya.
Anusit Khunakorn, deputy secretary-general, chaired the
Jan. 21 meeting at the A-One Royal Cruise Hotel to begin deliberations on
the renewal of Thailand’s strategy for marine stability. A large number of
business interests and government bureaucrats were on hand to listen and
provide input on the 2011-2016 plan.
The draft strategy covers development of national marine
security stability capabilities related to coastal sovereignty; protection
of personal assets on the coastline, promotion of sustainable development,
environmental balance, revive marine resources, and responsibilities of
various government agencies.
