Bicyclists on a trek through seven Southeast Asian
countries will stop in Pattaya Dec. 1 to help mark HM the King’s
“seventh cycle” birthday.
Pattaya officials announced that the “Bicycle Caravan
Through Seven Lands” will cross Chonburi Province Dec. 1-3, stopping in
Pattaya the first day to help the city celebrate HM the King’s 84th
birthday, or the completion of the seventh cycle of the Chinese
calendar.
The 7,500-kilometer trek through Cambodia, China,
Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam began on HM the Queen’s
birthday Aug. 12 and will conclude in Bangkok on His Majesty’s Dec. 5
birthday.
Cyclists will ride from Sattahip to Pattaya along
Sukhumvit Road at 11:30 a.m. and continue northward around the
beachfront before stopping for lunch at the Pla-thong Restaurant in
Naklua. A ceremony will be held in Naklua afterward and then riders will
depart again for Laem Chabang, Sriracha and onto Bangkok.
