On Wednesday 14th December at Town-in-Town Hotel,
Christmas began for over 400 members and guests with the annual PSC party.
Welcoming as they arrived was Vice President Bob Clark
together with other members of the executive committee and Santa!
Social Chairman Nigel Cannon
reminds everyone that this is a party and time to meet up with old friends
and maybe make new ones.
Opening the proceeding Social Chairman Nigel Cannon
reminded all this was a party and time to meet up with old friends and maybe
make new ones. Unfortunately Nigel had to announce that owing to confusion
there would be no Children’s Choir this evening.
President Tony Oaks then welcomed members and their
guests and thanked Nigel for what was to be another great party. He then
went on to say that tonight - in addition to the usual lucky draw - there
would be a 50/50 draw with half going the PSC’s flood relief fund and the
other going to a lucky winner. Six lovely ladies from Lewiinski’s moved
around the tables using their charm to sell tickets. Tony then announced the
buffet was open and Town-in-Town played soft music.
Barry Upton performs ‘Save
all your kisses for me’.
One of PSC’S guests was the well-known broadcaster and
music guru Barry Upton - who after hearing about the choir offered to
perform a set. For the next 30 minutes Barry performed many favorite’s
including ‘Save all your kisses for me’ the Eurovision hit from Brotherhood
of Man of which he was part of, and his Pattaya Wonderland which he has
recorded a version with the mayor.
It was then time to go back to the planned programme with
cabaret artist Rose who has also moved into broadcasting. Tonight was a
family affair as with her was husband Marshall and daughter Swan. The family
sang for the next hour together and separately with a variety of well-known
songs in English - and to the delight of all the Thai ladies - she also sang
in Thai. It was superb performance from a talented family.
The Luck draw was next - Nigel explaining he tried to
ensure all prizes would be of use to a member of the family. Drawing the
lucky winners was Bee Jackson. This was a team effort with Nigel calling out
the winners - Tony checking the numbers - Joe and Santa handing out the
prizes and Mike Coleman ensuring they were all in the right order.
Now it was time for the big one! 50/50. Tony announced
that the monies collect tonight came to 84,500 baht! He also announced that
PSC were rounding it up to 100,000 baht. Santa was the one to pick the
winner who was to receive 50,000 baht and that was Sakorn Pramoolchart!
Clearly delighted with her luck it was smiles all round - Sakorn then
returned 10,000 baht to be added to flood relief fund.
From then until midnight was music and dancing all the
way with the Town-in Town Band. However, most of the dancing was done by
Thai ladies whilst other just watched.
Santas helpers at Town-in-Town
enjoy the evening, too.
