Region 2 Police commander Maj. Gen. Punya Maamen and
Banglamung District Chief Chawalit Saeng-Uthai led the June 26 Walk Against
Drugs from Central Festival Pattaya Beach to Bali Hai Pier. Cadets from the
Royal Thai Navy Academy served as flag bearers, followed by soldiers from
the 14th Military Circle, Lions Club members and students from Pattaya’s 11
public schools.
A cloudburst delayed start of the parade, but once the
sun reappeared, the marching band from Pattaya School No. 3 struck up the
music and the marchers set off.
Organizers said the parade was aimed at mobilizing the
community to fight against drugs. Business and community leaders welcomed
the parade participants to Bali Hai with booths, activities, games, prizes
and a concert.
