Royal Thai Navy drug-enforcement officers arrested a Sattahip taxi
driver and his wife suspected of drug dealing, seizing 4,000
methamphetamine tablets in Ban Chang.
Nattapong Phalamit, 35, and Suphatra Sriyai, 26, were taken into custody
Sept. 10 at a house in Ban Chang. About 40,000 baht in cash was also
recovered.
Navy officers alleged the two worked for a drug kingpin identified only
as “Khong,” who is believed to be hiding out in Laos, and have been
distributing ya ba in Chonburi and Rayong.
The arrest came after the Navy used an undercover operative to arrange a
drug buy. Investigators said the couple brought the 4,000 ya ba pills
from Bangkok and were apprehended when money changed hands.
Ban Chang police, assisting in the arrest, said the pair confessed to
selling at least 10,000 pills previously.
