Clubs

For Chess Players: the ‘Otzi Bar’, about 1 km down Soi Khow Noi, commonly known as Soi Formosa has a large number of players who meet regularly. Contact Didi on 017 746 696 or Yui on 019 961 669.

The Skal Club of Pattaya and the East will hold their next meeting on Thursday August 16 at Casa Pascal (on Pattaya Second Road). If you are in the tourism industry, be sure to come to these meetings and meet with other professionals involved in tourism and travel.

Verandah Coffee Shop is now holding Theme Buffet Evenings. Tuesdays: exotic cuisine from the region with impressions of Asia, Fridays: Bar-B-Q & seafood buffet with fresh seafood and on Saturdays, enjoy a ‘culinary experience” with the extravagant international buffet. The La Mer Restaurant again has their harmonious pianist serenading diners with romantic melodies for dinner. La Mer is located in the lobby level of the Montien Hotel Pattaya.

The Rose Garden Hotel announces their “Afternoon Specials” (12.00pm - 4.00pm) - home cooked meal plus 1 large bottle (640ml) of beer all for only 99 baht. Reefer Madness Saturday’s from 1 to 5 p.m. at Tequila Reef Cantina with a BBQ combo platter (including chicken, corn on the cob and watermelon) for 75 baht or get ripped on a frozen margarita for only 75 baht, draft beers at 45 baht. Run aground at Tequila Reef on Soi 7, 30 meters off the beach (free parking available).

Entertainment

The Center Point Pub at the Green House Center, near the traffic lights on Second and Central Roads is hosting a Cocktail Party every Saturday night from 7 p.m. throughout August, with an all you can eat finger buffet for just 50 baht per person. Great value with live music all night, every night.

Planet Rock Niteclub, Soi Pattayaland 2, will be holding their next extravaganza ‘World Wide Beach Party’ on Wednesday August 22nd from 10.30 p.m.

From now until the end of September, the Green Bottle Pub, together with Chivas Regal is holding a Cowboy Night Festival. Open 2 bottles of Chivas and receive another free. The Moon River Pub has two bands. Power Play and First Degree, two extraordinary music groups from the Philippines are giving their best every night. Come and enjoy the atmosphere at this great pub.

The Penthouse Hotel on Soi Pattayaland 2, South Pattaya has non-stop rock n’ roll every night from 3p.m. till late. Check out the Saturday night free buffet and roasted pig and on Sunday afternoon the goulash and chili con carne buffet.

Events

For the early birds! Shenanigans Pattaya will be showing the live Tri Nations Rugby game between New Zealand & Australia at 9.30 a.m. on the big screen on Saturday 11th August. Breakfast served between 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Full Irish Breakfast with refills of coffee for 95 baht.

The Amari Orchid Resort is celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday 12th August from 7 p.m. onwards. Thank your mother for being so wonderful with a lovely meal under the stars in the tropical garden. Jenny and Percy will provide the entertainment and the ladies will receive a sprig of jasmine.

Mermaids Dive Center will be running an exciting Vertical Wreck/Hin Alhambra trip on the 10th to 12th of August. Mermaids will be going to the famous Vertical Wreck for four dives on Saturday. After a peaceful night in Koh Samet Bay, there will be a 2nd day of diving at the rarely visited Hin Alhambra. This is a 30 meter pinnacle that breaks the surface of the water. Euro Design Art Gallery features Thai Arts, with paintings by Natikorn Chinyo until August 31. Euro Design is located on Thepprasit Road.

Pattaya’s own floating market, Wanasin Farm on Soi Siam Country Club now has Traditional Thai Folk Dancing shows daily at 11 a.m., 1.30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. Get a taste of the traditional Thai ambience! Open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed Tuesdays).
