Alila plans Thai properties

Sofitel Phokeethra Krabi introduces yachting service

Alila plans Thai properties

Alila Hotels and Resorts has announced it will manage two new properties in Thailand - Alila Hansar Koh Samui and Alila Hansar Bangkok - slated to open late next year and in 2009, respectively.
Thailand’s Somhansar property developer is the owner and developer of both properties.
Alila Hansar Koh Samui on Bophut Beach will have 130m-long stretch of white sand beach, 79 guestrooms and suites, a swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar. Alila Hansar Bangkok will be an all-suite hotel, featuring 62 keys, on Rajdamri Road and will feature a boutique-style concept.
The hotel chain plans to debut its first property in Thailand with the opening of Alila Cha-Am within the next few months, featuring 72 deluxe rooms and seven pool villas in the first phase of development. Facilities will include three f&b outlets, a spa, swimming pool, a library and an events centre initially. In phase two and three, 70 pool villas will be added and are scheduled to be complete by 2009.
Alila Hotels & Resorts president and CEO, Mr. Mark Edleson, said the company was looking at a greater presence in Thailand, and was discussing management of another property in Phuket. (TTG)

Sofitel Phokeethra Krabi introduces yachting service

Sofitel Phokeethra Krabi is diversifying its services with the launching of a brand new yacht and a speed boat in the middle of this month.
The Phokeethra Yacht will offer private trips to Krabi’s surrounding islands along the Andaman Sea. It caters for up to five guests for a half-day or full-day programme and a couple for an overnight stay. The yacht will have an en-suite double bedroom, convertible sofa, dining table, LCD flat screen TV and a small kitchen.
The resort’s general manager, Mr. Ove Sandstrom, said the brand new exclusive yacht would set a new service standard among luxury resorts in Thailand. He added the yacht would enhance the opportunity for Sofitel Phokheetra Krabi to increase the market share of the high-end tourists and honeymooners.
Meanwhile, the brand new speed boat can accommodate up to 25 passengers.
The 276-room resort, which is located on Klong Muang Beach, claims it has the biggest swimming pool in Krabi, at 6,000sqm. Its facilities include eight f&b outlets, a spa and fitness, kid’s club, tennis court, games room, cooking school and business centre.
In addition, the resort plans to open a nine-hole golf course in February next year, and subsequently, the construction of 55 new pool villas is slated to commence in the first quarter. (TTG)
