Sattahip honor HRH Prince Mahidol, Father of modern medicine in
Thailand.

Queen Sirikit Hospital commemorated the “Father of modern
medicine in Thailand” with a HRH Prince Mahidol Day celebration in
Sattahip.
Hospital Director Rear Adm. Panlert Klaewthanong presided over Sept. 24
ceremony at HRH the Prince’s monument with medical and government
officers attending.
Ten monks performed religious ceremonies dedicated HRH along with
declaring their loyalty while attendees placed garlands at the monument.
HRH Prince Mahidol of Songkhla was the son of HM King Chulalongkorn and
father of both HM the King Bhumibol Adulyadej and HM King Ananda
Mahidol.
On his 100th birthday in 1991, the late Prince was nominated by the
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as a
great personality of the world in the field of culture. After that, the
Thai government designated the date of HRH the Prince’s death, Sept. 24,
as Mahidol Day.
