Pattaya MP Poramet Ngampichet and Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome rewarded the
city’s sanitation staff with two bags of rice as bonuses to each of the
garbage collectors, street sweepers and cleaners.
At the Pattaya Garbage Collection Center on Soi Chaiyapoon Withi 1/2 Sept.
21, the politicians and staff from the city Public Health and Environment
and the Natural Resources and Environment departments handed out two bags
each to 240 workers.
The mayor also gave workers news that, beyond Thailand’s rise in the minimum
wage, workers minimum salaries would be boosted to 9,000 baht per month and
workers would receive a month’s salary as a bonus, in addition to the rice.
The pay increase remains subject to city council approval.
Another 130 workers received rice bonuses last month. The city has more than
1,000 people working on cleaning and sanitation.
“Because Pattaya cleaning employees work hard to maintain cleanliness in the
city, I want to help them have better living conditions and have coordinated
with the national rice policy committee at the Ministry of Agriculture and
Co-operatives to distribute rice to hard-working employees, encouraging them
to keep Pattaya clean and beautiful,” Poramet said.
